My name is Richard Cockwell  and I live in the Falkland Islands. Although having always been interested in all things artistic I took up  watercolour painting late in life,  in fact -not having seriously touched a paintbrush since leaving school- it was for my 60th birthday that I took a painting holiday in the South of France and that is when my passion for painting Falkland Islands landscapes started.

This site is dedicated to the wonderful painting opportunities that can be found in the Falkland Islands and showing some examples of my watercolours.

The Islands are situated in a latitude normally noted for its high winds and empty seas. It is an interesting fact that if one travels west from the Islands you reach the southern tip of South America and if you travel East the first land you encounter is the southern tip of South America! Despite this isolation the Islands are a haven for beautiful scenery and abundant and exceptional wildlife.

Please feel free to browse these pages and view the Islands through the eyes of somebody who has lived and worked in these Islands through all its trials and tribulations in the past forty six years. I hope than many visitors will leave this site seeing the Islands with new eyes.
